Hurricane Sandy Article Response

Many people thought it was nothing, they didn't think Hurricane Sandy was going to be big until it hit them. Beaches were ruined, houses were destroyed, people stayed with no electricity, and worst of all many have lost everything they had. People have died and buildings are destroyed. Many have even lost their jobs. Things aren't easy for anyone and the city is trying to help out as much as possible, but is it enough?

"Protecting a single city port from floods is easier than protecting a similar population spread out along a coastline of fishing villages,"(page 2) This article wants us to know that it is going to be very hard for the city to try to help the ones in need because not only is there people that have no electricity, but there are also people that still have floods around their areas. I don't think that the city was prepared do go through this kind of hurricane. They said they were very prepared and that they knew what they were doing, but i don't think that they took notice to it as they should of. I hear on the news how many people still need help and they want someone to help them, but no one has came to help yet. I feel bad for these people, they need help and they are not getting it. It's sad to hear that people don't have homes, it seems like people are helping and participating more instead of the city.

"In short, could Sandy be the beginning of A People's Shock? (page 3) I think this sentence of the article wants to tell us that Sandy was big and that this isn't just the end, it's the beginning. I think that it can be A Peoples Shock. I feel so bad for these people, some people are in shock and if they are just in shock with a hurricane what if something worse happens. This hurricane made 80 houses burn down, whats going to happen if something worse comes. Its hard for people to go through this. We just have to try and help ourselves when it comes to these things. Its scary, but we just need to do it.

Many people are trying to help other people. The city is helping, but we are helping more. Our schools are raising money to give to Red Cross to help people out. This article shows how we help and how many dangers there are. The city needs to step up the game and they know it. Sooner or later things will get better. We hope it will get better so that everyone can have a save life.
