"Then have my lips the sin they took" This moment is where Romeo & Juliet first met, fell in love, & everything changed. In the book Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, this book is all about forbidden love. When there is forbidden love in a relationship, the two people in love will have to face a lot of struggles.
Society is one of the reasons that their love is forbidden. In the book there is a feud between the Montague and the Capulets. They dislike each other very much. Juliet is a Capulet and Romeo is a Montague. They fall in love even though their families are enemies. For example, the nurse tells Juliet "His name is Romeo, and a Montague, the only son of our great enemies," and then Juliet says, "My only love sprung from my only hate," (pg.61). The society that they both live in will never approve of them being together because they think they are not meant to be together.
Family is another reason that their love is forbidden. Juliet's father wants Juliet to marry Paris, but she does not want to marry him. She just fell in love with Romeo. The problem is Juliet's parents have control on who she marries. Capulet tells Paris "Let two more summers wither in their pride. Ere we may think her ripe to be a bride," (pg.27). Her family would never allow her to get married with Romeo.
In forbidden love their might be tragic consequences. One result of forbidden love is sacrifice. People in relationships sometimes sacrifice things just so that they could be together. Romeo and Juliet love each other a lot. They love each other so much that they sacrificed their lives for each other. In the book it says this [He dies]. Romeo killed himself right after he saw that Juliet was dead. What really was going on was that she was not dead, she just drank a sleeping potion. When she wakes up she sees that Romeo is dead so [She takes Romeo's dagger, stabs herself, and dies] (pg.231).
Being in a relationship comes with struggles. If your love is forbidden, the problems and struggles will come more since you two cant be together. This book actually showed a dramatic love story of two young teens who fell in love, but were not allowed to be together. This book showed readers that two lovers can be together if they want and its their choice, no one else's.
i thought your essay was very strong showing how its forbidden love & giving strong examples and supporting your thesis.
ReplyDeletethe beginning quote hooked me on to this essay and you were bringing a lot of quotes to support your statements.
ReplyDeletei think the way you wrote the quote for the first sentence was a good start of the essay
ReplyDeletefor the quotes what line the quotes themselves are on.
i wouldnt really change that much about the essay overall its very nice
One of your strengths is that you really explain yourself well. Also, you give many examples.
ReplyDeleteOne question I have for you is what do you mean by forbidden love?
One suggestion I have for you is to explain the struggles between Romeo and Juliet better :]

Delete1)This essay is very well developed and the thoughts have clear stated very well intended elaborations.
ReplyDelete2)Everything was straightforward.
3)To be as well developed.
This essay is really good. I can tell that you put a lot of effort into writing this essay. You have clear quotes and details from the text supporting your thesis. I think you could give a little bit more of an overview of the book but overall it is great!I don't have any questions because you explained it really good.
ReplyDeleteOverall i think you did really good some of the strengths were that you backed up every detail that you made by a quotation.one thing i really wish you did was refer to the book more. i would suggest that you give more quotation. but this was a great essay. Good job Helen.<33
ReplyDeletea strength that i noticed in your essay was that you used quotes and credited your sources very well.
ReplyDeleteAlthough one concern i did have was that the essay was a bit repetitive.
OVERALL IT WAS AMAZING

ReplyDeleteA strength your essay had was that your conclusion sums up your essay well. It tied all of your loose ends together. One problem I had with your essay was that you were quite repetitive, but it was great overall, #ballislife and #ballneverstops so #keepplayingball
ReplyDeleteI think that you incorporate the quotes well in your thesis and that you organize the essay well.
ReplyDeleteThe first question is why did you choose forbidden love as your topic, and the second, what kind of struggles do couples face?
My suggestion is that you could get some more quotes.
I think it was good over all but the second and third paragraph sound very similar
ReplyDeleteA strength that this essay has, is that it is formatted really well, and that each paragraph has a whole new idea, but they all have to do with the topic of forbidden love.
ReplyDeleteA question that I had while reading this essay was: Is it true that, "there has never beentwo people who kill themselves because their boyfriend or girlfriend is dead."? I would like to know, and did you research it?
A suggestion that I have for revision, is to either include a source stating the fact that no two poeple have killed themselves for the other, or if it isn't true, reword the sentence.

ReplyDeleteyou did a good job with keeping a constant theme and using useful quotations. you might want to put a colon before your quotes.and relate the intro more to the conclusion.
ReplyDeleteA strength that you have in your essay is you are organized and you keep everything focus on the topic.
ReplyDeleteA suggestion is to explain Romeo and Juliet's struggle a little better.
A question that I have is how do they struggle?
1.One strength Helen had was that she kept the essay on topic, and had good supporting details.
ReplyDeleteAnother good thing she did was that she showed how this story can relate to the real world; showing understatement in the book.
2.Something I don't understand is that how she made a relation in one paragraph, but then she stated that people never kill themselves because their partners are dead, which is not true.
3. One thing I would suggest is for Helen to be less repetitive and state more reasons why she claims things. Overall, she did really well in this essay.
I thought that your essay was really good. I also think that the quotes that you chose worked well with your thesis, forbidden love. One problem was that you were a bit repetitive. Also you could have added more quotes.
ReplyDeleteThe Way you started with a quote caught the readers eyes which was a good thing to do. You also did a good job staying on topic and not wondering off with the details.
ReplyDeleteStrengths ~
ReplyDelete1. Your essay seems very well thought out, I like how you not only summarized the story but elaborated on it using your opinions, so it's not boring.
2. One thing I don't completely understand is how you wrote your quotes. One thing I felt that could be improved is your explaining on the quotes you chose. Another thing is, your second and third paragraphs are sort of repetitive.
3. One thing you can do to revise your essay is to make sure you don't repeat your statements in different paragraphs, and elaborate a little more on the quotes you choose.

DeleteAn example of a strength that your body paragraphs have is that they have inferences. Although a question that i have is, why are some of the inferences so complicated. Use more simple connections.
ReplyDeletei thought you had good body paragraph structure. what does society have to do with their forbidden love. you could revise that paragraph to make the idea clearer.
ReplyDeleteI like how you started with a quotation and explained everything throughout your body paragraphs.
